Cain Highborn
Cain's personality and actions outside of the formal temple ceremonies led him to be disliked among many of the temple's upper level priests and dedicates. Two of his three fellow high priests firmly believe that he should never have been instated into his current position, but none can deny his abilities, nor can it be said that the Three do not speak to him as they do the other high priests.
It was Cain's arrogant demeanor that gave him the surname Highborn. Little is known of Cain's past, before he appeared at the entrance of Spiral Way Temple as a fourteen year old child. He made few friends among the acolytes and initiates of the temple because of his acerbic tongue and selfish manner, but to the dedicates he showed a side that was completely devoted to the welfare of the temple and the serving of the gods. In these duties not even his most diligent enemies could find fault. His aloofness led most to believe that he was the unwanted child of some rich merchant, or councilor, and many called him the highborn bastard behind his back. Everyone knew better than to call him that to his face.
Making the mystery of his background all the more intriguing, Cain has blond hair. The gold color of his hair was something that had never been seen in Tengarra since the Magicians died out over three hundred years ago. It is said that the pagans, far to the west over the mountains have that color hair and different color skin as well, but as there is no actual documentation that anyone who had set out to cross the harsh mountain ranges had ever succeeded, let alone returned, the speculation that Cain was one of the western pagans soon died. If Cain himself knows his own origin he shows no inclination to tell anyone.
